Project Summary
The 85,800 SF Angelos Medical Pavilion was developed as part of Saint Agnes Hospital’s recently completed $200 million master plan to enhance and expand its campus. The Medical Pavilion is connected to the hospital on multiple levels and has its own patient-dedicated surface parking. The facility houses independent and hospital-employed physician groups as well as growing hospital programs such as the Saint Agnes Cancer Institute and Saint Agnes Cardiovascular Institute.
Due to the rising demand for cancer treatment, the Saint Agnes Cancer Institute had outgrown its previous space. Development of the Angelos Medical Pavilion allowed the Cancer Institute to expand its capacity by 40 percent. The medical oncology portion of the Cancer Institute, which was developed and is managed by NexCore Group, is 21,000 SF.
NexCore helped Saint Agnes reconfigure its Cancer Institute so that radiation oncology remained in the hospital and medical oncology moved to the outpatient setting on the first floor of the Medical Pavilion. A connector allows people to move easily between outpatient and inpatient departments. Expanding the Cancer Institute into a new, customized outpatient facility allowed Saint Agnes to improve its multidisciplinary model of cancer care while continuing to offer patients the latest in medical technologies.
Sixteen new patient treatment and exam rooms support the Cancer Institute’s commitment to multidisciplinary treatment methods. Each patient exam room is surrounded by clinical space and consultation areas so that patients and their families can meet with physicians, patient care navigators, financial counselors, social workers, nutritionists, and other members of their care team.
“If I was advising another healthcare organization that was looking at NexCore as a potential partner, I wouldn’t have any reservations recommending them—based upon my experience over the last two and a half years of working consistently with the same team, their creativity, their knowledge, and their fortitude in making sure the project is going to get done.”
