As part of an ongoing initiative to optimize efficiency of healthcare facilities nationwide for client Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), national healthcare real estate developer NexCore is breaking ground again, this time in Kentucky.
The Denver-based firm announces the development of CHI Saint Joseph Health’s Saint Joseph London – Central East Medical Office Building (MOB) in London, about 75 miles south of Lexington in the southeastern part of the state.
The two-story, 60,000-square-foot MOB will provide a creative and innovative solution to Saint Joseph London’s desire to consolidate its physicians and staff into one facility, maximize efficiency, and expand services.
“NexCore Group is excited to see another CHI project attain the efficiency and optimization realized at other facilities in the system via our highly-adaptable, scalable prototype,” Todd Varney, Managing Partner and Chief Development Officer, says. “The model we’ve developed is quickly and easily adjusted to meet the individual needs of the Saint Joseph London’s providers and their patients.”
Saint Joseph London – Central East Medical Office Building broke ground January 16, 2019. When completed in the first quarter of 2020, the facility will offer a full complement of healthcare services, including primary care; cardiology; general surgery; pulmonary; ear, nose and throat (ENT); diagnostic imaging; cardio/pulmonary testing and rehab; physical therapy; and a clinical lab.
To create the ultimate result for CHI’s nationwide initiative, NexCore developed a prototype, comprised of scalable buildings ranging in size from 20,000 to 60,000 square feet on an adaptable structural steel frame. The agile layouts were designed to allow new projects to move quickly through the design process.
NexCore’s prototypes have been or are being deployed in several other projects in Iowa, Nebraska and other U.S. markets. The optimized facility fosters productivity increases of an estimated 22 percent to 28 percent among providers, allowing them to see more patients more efficiently.
The architect on the Kentucky MOB is Leo A. Daly, and the general contractor is Alston Construction.
