NexCore Group Breaks Ground on CHI Saint Joseph Health Winchester MOB

In a continuing initiative to optimize efficiency of healthcare facilities nationwide for client Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), NexCore Group has started construction on a medical office building (MOB) in Kentucky for the second time this year.

The Denver-based national healthcare real estate developer broke ground Feb. 4 on the CHI Saint Joseph Health Winchester MOB in Winchester, a suburb of Lexington, the state’s second largest city.

With the one-story, 24,693-square-foot MOB, NexCore will provide CHI Saint Joseph Health with an innovative, modern facility that will enable it to efficiently expand in the growing central Kentucky healthcare market.

Having outgrown its current space, CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group is the latest beneficiary of the partnership between CHI and NexCore Group, and their quest to deploy efficient solutions improving delivery of care. The clinic will incorporate an on-stage, off-stage clinic model, meaning that it has been designed to separate waiting rooms and exam rooms for patients and family members from the “behind the scenes” areas used by physicians and staff. Compared with a traditional linear clinic design characterized by shared corridors and publicly exposed workstations, this innovative approach contributes to shorter wait times for patients, improved staff workflows, more collaboration opportunities for the care team in private areas and reduce travel distances to exam rooms – all of which contribute to greater quality, convenience and efficiency.

“NexCore Group is very happy to break ground on another CHI project in Kentucky, our second this year,” Todd Varney, Managing Partner and Chief Development Officer says. “Our work with CHI further establishes the success of finely tuned, adaptable prototypes. We are pleased to see each project unfold and change the delivery of healthcare for the better in an increasing number of communities across the United States.”

When completed in February 2020, the facility will offer a full complement of healthcare services, including primary care, cardiology, orthopedics, imaging, lab and a specialist timeshare space. Other services offered include family practice, radiology, CT, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, blood draw and a physical therapy gym.
