An Australian native, I took the long road to discovering my passion for healthcare real estate development.  Born and raised in Sydney, I had my eyes set on the world of finance, always thinking I would be a high-flying investment banker.  I was fortunate to land a position with Arthur Andersen where enjoyed several great years expanding my capabilities. A highlight, that ultimately set my course (little did I know at the time) was a trip to Chicago for three weeks of training. During those three weeks I met lifelong friends, many of which I am still in touch with to this day.

In 2003, as many Aussies tend to do, I embarked on a two-year working to holiday to London.  With nothing more than a suitcase I was off, with a side trip to Dallas to attend one of my newfound friend’s weddings.  It was there I met my wife, Erin.  Two years on, including many flights across the Atlantic, I moved to Dallas.  There I took a position with a healthcare developer, leveraging both my construction and finance backgrounds.  I quickly built an impressive portfolio of projects covering the full spectrum of healthcare assets.  I often reflect, 18 years later, on the chain of events that ultimately lead to a career in healthcare development. I have so much passion for what we do at NexCore and truly believe that we make a difference in the lives of so many.

I hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia; a Master’s in finance from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia; and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute Australia (SIA).

With over 18 years of experience in specialized healthcare and senior living real estate development and 26 years of overall industry experience, I have developed over 1.5 million square feet with a collective budget of over $600 million. My expertise includes medical market underwriting, site selection, transaction structuring, project feasibility analysis, leasing, healthcare asset design, and construction management. I have developed and managed deals that cover the full spectrum of healthcare assets, including on-campus and off-campus medical office buildings, ambulatory surgery centers, cancer centers, surgical/specialty hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, transitional care centers / skilled nursing facilities, and licensed senior living facilities.

The long road from Sydney continues!
