NexCore Group has broken ground in Tucson for an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) it is developing for Northwest Healthcare and Community Health Systems (CHS).
The one-story, 20,000 square foot Tucson Surgery Center facility will be located on the Pima Medical Institute campus at 2121 Craycroft Road and is also adjacent to the Tucson Medical Center.
Todd Varney, chief development officer and managing partner of Denver-based NexCore, said the firm helped clients Northwest Healthcare and CHS to effectively relocate an existing facility to a market with greater demand for outpatient surgical services.
“Through a series of creative design solutions, we were able to achieve the best fit on a tight site without losing key operational spaces,” said Nathan Golik, NexCore’s senior vice president business development. “At the same time, we were able to deliver some key efficiencies through our planning and modeling processes, including reducing the size of operations by 25 percent while maintaining the same number of revenue-producing operating rooms – and an anticipated decrease in annual occupancy cost.”
A grand opening for the facility is expected in early 2021.
